Inspired by author Tanizaki’s poetic commentary on Japanese aesthetics “In Praise of Shadow”, hizuki fuses light with Japanese craftwork – mouthblown glass, handthrown porcelain, hammered pewter, gold-leafed bronze, steel, woven bamboo, fabric and washi paper. A series of pendant lights, wall sconces and floor lamps were developed for the contract market in collaboration with artists and craftsmen.
